While braces may limit what you can eat, they certainly don’t limit how much fun you can have! If you’re down about your Halloween prospects because of your new braces, think again. Chantilly is always the go-to place for fun holiday events. We take Halloween especially seriously in Virginia since the old cities around us are prime suspects for ghostly hauntings and horror mysteries. There are tons of fun things to do for people with or without braces! As long as you watch what you eat, you can still have as much fun as ever. Here are just a few events that we’ll definitely be stopping by on Halloween night:
Historic All Hallow’s Eve
3650 Historic Sully Way, Chantilly, VA, 20151
There’s nothing scarier than a haunted house and on Saturday, October 26, you’ll have the opportunity to tour one of the Virginia’s oldest landmarks in Chantilly. Head over to Sully Historic Site for an evening of scaary storytelling, fortune telling, fall foods, and family gathering. Explore the creaky old manor and all the ghouls that haunt it for just $10!
Air ‘n Scare
14390 Air and Space Museum Parkway, Chantilly, VA 20151
For a night of excitement and education, make your way over to the Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum at the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center in Chantilly, VA. Fairfax county is hosting a night of fun where participants can enjoy creepy crafts, spooky science experiments, and other Halloween-themed activities. Come in costume and be prepared to have a whole lot of fun! The event is on Saturday, October 6 from 12 PM to 5:30 PM.
Chantilly High School Haunted House
4201 Stringfellow Road, Chantilly, VA 20151
Support a good cause and go to the Chantilly High School Haunted House on Saturday, October 26! Besides the haunted house, there will also be face painting, games, arts & crafts, a hypnotist, and tasty food for sale. The event runs from 4 PM to 10 PM and it gets progressively scarier the later you stay, so don’t miss out!
If you do decide to buy a meal or snack at the Chantilly High School Haunted House, we recommend staying away from any chewy, crunchy, or hard items. Typical Halloween goodies like candied apples, caramel corn, pretzels, and peanut brittle are all off-limits. Instead, go for pumpkin spice cupcakes or apple cider!
Halloween Spooktacular
43055 Center St, Chantilly, VA 20152
Join in on a good, old-fashioned Halloween parade this year on Sunday, October 27th! You can flaunt your costume to the masses when you go to the Halloween Spooktacular hosted by South Riding Proprietary. You can anticipate fun activities, rides, and photo ops when you attend these festivities.
Sully Police and Friends Trunk or Treat
4320 Chantilly Shopping Center, Chantilly, VA 20151
For a safe, kid-friendly Halloween, head to the Chantilly Walmart parking lot for Trunk or Treat, hosted by the Sully Police! Between 5:30 PM and 9 PM on October 31st, you and your family can enjoy festive music, decorations, and of course, plenty of safe, tasty candy under the supervision of your trusty Chantilly police force. Please register for the free event on Eventbrite, so the planning committee can get a headcount and provide enough sweets for everyone.
After trick or treating, don’t forget to sort your candy out to make sure it’s safe to eat, no matter where you’ve been. For anyone who has braces, stay away from overly chewy or crunchy candy, like caramel, taffy, or jawbreakers. Instead, stick to soft chocolates or candy corn. We know that all the scary movies and parties on Halloween can be exhausting, but it’s important for you to brush and floss before bed. Considering how much sugar is involved on Halloween, you’ll need to work extra hard to prevent cavities!
Mymo’s Halloween Party
4300 Chantilly Shopping Center, 2C, Chantilly, VA 20151
For more kid-friendly Halloween fun, stop by Mymo’s Halloween party! Kids will have a ball playing games, trick-or-treating, dressing up, and exploring the premise at My Gym in Chantilly. Most importantly, there will be an awesome ball pit and giant witch brooms to ride around. The event is $20 for members, $25 for nonmembers, and $10 for siblings. It takes place on October 18 and October 25. If your child is under 3 years of age, come between 4:30 PM and 5:30 PM. After that, the gym is open for all ages.
Amazing Farm Fun Pumpkin Patch
26469 Ticonderoga Rd, Chantilly, VA 20152
Get a head start on your jack-o-lantern making by stopping by the Fall Pumpkin Festival located on Ticonderoga Road! The pumpkin patch is full of giant orange pumpkins that are ready to be taken home. You can also enjoy peddle carts, hay rides, and pillow bounces when you’re there! The pumpkin patch is open 10 AM – 5 PM on weekdays and 10 AM – 6 PM on weekends. It’s open from now until November 2nd, so get in there before all the best pumpkins get snatched up!
When you’re carving out your pumpkins, don’t forget that pumpkin seeds can be harmful to braces because they’re so hard and crunchy. We recommend grinding them into a protein powder for your pumpkin spice lattes rather than roasting them if you have braces!
